About The Haunted Trail of Balboa Park

San Diego's only All Outdoor Haunted Attraction

Located in San Diego's world famous Balboa Park, The Haunted Trail is a stroll through the park you will never forget. Enter the mile long Trail through the twisted grove of pines and gnarled oaks. Visitors watch your back, you’ll never know which way the terror will hit you. True to form, the Trail is not for children under 10 or the faint of heart. Experience an outdoor terror that is simply too big to house indoors. This year The Haunted Trail features an additional maze called "The eXperiment". For five extra bones you can find out what happens when Mother Nature takes her eye off the ball for even just a second.

WARNING:  All patrons enter at their own risk. Owners & sponsors are not responsible or liable for any harm incurred on the premises. This attraction contains high impact scares and strobe lights which may not be suitable for people with heart conditions or prone to seizures. Attraction may include the use of fog juice as well as spraying water. Sorry, NO pregnant women, infants, or children being carried will be allowed entry. Not recommended for children under 10

In general, we try to keep the wait time to under 30 minutes. However, on the last 2 weekends in October and on Halloween the lines will be much longer. Buy your tickets online to avoid the box office line and try to come earlier in October if you would like to avoid the longer lines!

Due to the terrain, it is very difficult for wheelchairs to manuever through this outdoor event. We can send a staff member to accompany you through in case help is needed, but please be aware the pathways are dirt and mulch and they may be uneven as they wind through the park.

We also have an EMT on staff each night.

Yes. We do not allow foul language, pushing, vulgar behavior, weapons of any kind, alcohol, etc. We do not allow babies or children to be carried through. Smoking and alcohol is not allowed. We reserve the right to remove any patron from the event if we feel it is necessary.

Violation of these rules will usually bring a warning and then being asked to leave without a refund.

NO! And they are not allowed on the property, so please do not bring any.

NO photography of any sort is not allowed in the haunts. Haunted houses are dark and peoples eyes (especially the actors) adjust to the low light. When you flash your camera you're not only ruining other customers' experience but you're hurting the actors' eyes. Also, the fog used inside the attractions ruins flash photography.

Although no photography or videotaping is allowed inside (including nightshot), the monsters working outside will quite often pose for pictures.
